ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Greenlight America is a new organization that mobilizes grassroots power to win local siting and permitting campaigns for clean energy projects. We do this by partnering with local groups and activists to run strategic campaigns that win approval for clean energy projects in their communities. Our founding team has led some of the largest grassroots organizing networks in the country, and we are building a scalable model for engaging and mobilizing local residents in support of clean energy.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Research Analyst plays a central role in Greenlight’s research and campaigns work, including identifying, evaluating, and utilizing data and information sources; writing research briefs, reports, and other materials; and strategic analysis to support campaigns. As an early member of Greenlight’s team, the Research Analyst will also have an important voice in shaping the overall strategic direction of Greenlight’s research work and research-informed strategy. A successful candidate for this position will be a skilled researcher with a keen interest in learning new things, as well as an excellent writer and communicator. They will be highly creative and willing to take risks, and exhibit strong attention to detail.

The position is remote and reports to the Senior Director, Research.

PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Help build and use a project pipeline and “early warning system” to identify and evaluate clean energy projects that will require local approvals.

  • Perform research and write briefs, memos, and reports on decision-makers and organizational stakeholders, such as local officials, partner organizations, and funding entities.

  • Research and analyze legal and regulatory frameworks to explain project approval processes its impact on clean energy deployment across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Research and analyze the economic and community benefits of clean energy projects.

  • Work closely with Greenlight’s research, campaigns, communications, and partnership staff to develop research products that meet strategic needs and advance organizational priorities.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

We are especially interested in candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated skill in identifying and using information sources in new research areas, including places with limited published information.

  • Demonstrated skill in summarizing and presenting data and technical information in a user-friendly manner.

  • Ability to rapidly develop knowledge and expertise on new topic areas.

  • Willingness to think creatively, take risks, objectively evaluate results, and iterate.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Strong attention to detail. 

  • Passion for accelerating the clean energy transition.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base annual salary for this position is $50,000-$70,000. We offer an excellent benefits package which includes 100% employer paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off, monthly technology stipend, and retirement contributions through 401k and Roth plans.
